Some beautiful Mid-May weather - Manakin fairway aeration next week
This past weekend hosted some of the best weather of the year so far. Cool and dry made for some great playing conditions. 1.2" of rain Tuesday evening brought some moisture back in but nothing that either course wasn't ready for. The greens are rolling great and the rough is starting to show some life while our herbicides are shrinking the Poa down. The Manakin will be closed Monday and Tuesday so that we can poke some solid tine holes in the fairways like we did on Sabot two weeks ago. Again, this should go relatively unnoticed by the golfer.
Boomer is enjoying the Zoysia being awake again around the bunkers. We are in what pretty much equates to a full on mowing schedule again. Our summer staff is on board and ready to pick up Boomers slack!
The big project for the week was to get the pool kitchen area prepped and sodded before the rain came on Wednesday. A truck load of Northbridge bermuda was delivered Tuesday morning and this area is close to being buttoned up and ready for service.
Behind the new kitchen was also sodded on top of the new irrigation.
Fresh playground mulch was laid down under the play sets.
Mulch is finally going down between the parking lot and pickleball.
36,000 balls were pulled out of 8 and 18 Sabot on Monday! These guys used a pulley system with an underwater roller like what is on our ball picker to excavate a crazy amount of balls. They will be back to try their luck on the par 3's on a few Monday's. If this doesn't tell to re-evaluate how to play 8 Sabot I don't know what does.
New drink carts have finally landed and you can not miss them!
First coat of paint is going on the new buildings here at the Maintenance facility. With some luck the contractors will be installing insulation and starting to hang drywall next week. The amount of county inspections and different sub contractors involved with a new building is nothing short of wild. We are doing all the painting in house.
Our annual flowers are making their way out around the club grounds. Zinnia, coleus, lantana and marigolds make up the most of our pallet as we defend against the rabbits and deer. Even though as Buzz continues to dominate the front lawn he is also scaring away the plant eating wildlife which has been amazing for the roses and hostas this year!
Nothing is scaring the snapping turtles this week as they have been walking around on three different holes this week. Enjoy some more rides on the drone this week and good luck with the weather this weekend!
