Perfect weather for golf!

The weather has been nothing short of amazing over the past week. A couple quick shots of rain have kept both courses growing and coming into their summer color. Temperatures back into the 50's will keep clipping yield down on the bermuda and green speeds up on the bentgrass.

Our bi-weekly summer soil applications on the greens started in May. Every other Monday fungicides for pythium along with beneficial soil nutrients like calcium and manganese (a lot of people don't know what that is) are washed down into the greens profile to protect our roots against degradation as the summer heats up.

Speaking of strong roots, the trees have won here on the top of the hill on 2 Manakin. We have created beds here and are mulching around the drip lines of the trees.

We are deep into tournament season now and with Men's Member Guest set for next week the Manakin guys have been continuing to edge pine straw beds and tighten up many of the outer lying areas of the course. Sprinkler heads, tee plaques and bunkers are getting a fresh edge and looking sharp. If your ball somehow ends up in the "V groove" I would consider the local rule of free relief back in play.

The Sabot team has replaced the bridge on 3 green. It should be tied in and ready for weekend foot traffic. The last bridge on the list will be the one closest to 5 green.

Enjoy the beautiful weekend and don't miss watching some of the Women's US Open as well! Check out the conditions a scratch handicap east coast Superintendent with Kinloch blood in him can show you on the national stage!
