The rain is back

We have seen a solid 4 inches of rain come down since this past Saturday night and that puts us well past the airport total of 7" for the month. We'll go ahead and place ourselves in the 8th place spot for wettest March on the books. The rain continues to wash the chaff off the bermuda and despite a few speckles of frost here and there it continues to green up slowly.

Monday was a beautiful day however so Joe went ahead and knocked out some additional drainage on 15 Manakin blue and white tee.

Grant, Dillon and Bobby continue to dial in the Manakin irrigation system. All of the part circle out sprinkler heads have to be checked to make sure they are not watering the wrong way and into the fairway. The heads along the native areas have to be adjusted to ensure no water is wasted on the fescue. The goal is to have the natives thin enough to find your ball but dense enough to filter rain water and keep weeds out.

The Sabot greens have not moved much with the cool weather. We put down a dry cut on Monday and then applied some nutrients through the sprayer on Wednesday to keep them moving in the right direction.

9 new Nellie Stevens hollies were planted along the platform tennis courts before the rain got started Wednesday.

More landscape rock was laid along the new asphalt along the platform courts as well. We are working with Facilities Maintenance to figure out a simple ramp to be able to walk from the common area here and onto the platform courts. Pickleball is in the queue for lights and fencing but the rain has not been treating them well so far.

The roof trusses are being put into place on both the Facilities Maintenance and GCM breakroom buildings. Plumbing and HVAC will get moving next week.

Both buildings are pretty simple in concept. Our breakroom common space will now quadruple however, meaning everyone can meet in the same space for morning jobs and lunch. The lockers will also be moved into this building and all 40 of us will now share 5 toilets (even one separate for the ladies!) instead of 2. Very exciting times! This building is going to solidify our team even more and offer a great place to take a breath during a busy work day. Bring on April!
