Cold but productive week
We took our shot at a giant live Christmas tree this year. A decent looking cedar was plucked from behind 1 Sabot green Monday morning and hauled up to the plaza with the excavator.
The tree survived the wind on Tuesday and our team has been attempting to decorate it all week. It's not perfect but it is something different and should spark some conversation during the holiday season!
We got the excavator back into its proper position quickly on Monday and dug out the left bunker on 12. This will most likely be the last bunker we renovate for a while until the weather warms back up a bit at night.
The capillary concrete showed up Thursday and was laid out as the sun and temperatures rose back to comfortable levels.
All finished up and ready for sand. The sand trucking company has been a little slow this week as we are still waiting on sand to finish up the right side bunker. We are due all 4 loads of sand today and tomorrow so these bunkers should be back in play early next week.
Over on the Sabot, Dunstano and Carlos got our vibratory plow hooked up and ready for a test run before we jump into the Manakin irrigation project next week. Here on 15 Sabot we ran wire from the transformer right of the path around to the front of the pond for a new fountain.
We never really knew how solar powered bubblers ended up here on 15 when power for the fan was readily available. The two previous bubblers really were not enough for this pond but the new fountain that matches the one on 4 should get the job done and keep this pond in a healthier state next summer.
The pond on 16 is also too big for just two bubblers and always has trouble staying healthy when the heat rolls in. There is no power here however so the solar powered bubblers are a good idea. We moved the system from 15 here to 16 and will give them all a shot for 2024. This pond on 16 is the deepest of all the Sabot ponds so the bubblers should have room to work and maintain a healthy environment.
The trencher also found its way out to Sabot 14 this week. It was been amazingly dry so any drainage work has been a breeze.
A new french drain in between the corner tree and the cartpath should help this shaded area out after a heavy rain. Two new catch basins will also reduce the amount of water sheeting off the cart path and saturating the rough. This area will be sodded over in the spring.
This coming Monday will begin the Manakin irrigation system wiring upgrade. No pipe or sprinkler heads will be exchanged, only new wire plowed in to the ground and hooked in series to each head. We will start at our main office and head towards #9 and away from there. Depending on how things go Monday we may have #9 playing shorter than normal for the first half of the week. Look for plenty of details next week!
