Making progress in the sunlight

The lack of rain this week finally allowed us to get back on to the pickleball area and finish up the grading. Freezing temperatures still lock up the soil here and keep it from drying out but we have been able to work it in to shape. The storm that hammered California a few days ago is tracking our way though and while it is only supposed to drop less than an inch of rain we are moving quickly to try and get some gravel down on this exposed soil. Cooler temperatures will be back for the next two weeks so we will back into a waiting pattern for electrical and asphalt work.

The paddle guys have made plenty of progress since last Friday. 80 tons of gravel was conveyed in to go underneath the entire paddle area.

The aluminum beams are set on top of the ground anchors and then the court floor pieces that are pre-painted are set in to place. The fitness parking lot is full of pieces for the paddle courts, among a myriad of other construction items.

The first court is up with lights and all. It looks like it will take about one week per court, so three more weeks and you will have 4 paddle courts in total.

There is plenty of action happening at the pool kitchen as well. This is a serious foundation and it is going up quickly!

The frozen ground in the morning allowed the Sabot squad to pick off a few more trees on the left side of 12. The sun continues to get higher in the sky each morning and the progressive tree work all around both courses has helped keep the turf in acceptable condition through the winter.

In fact we have never seen, the vamont especially, look this full and healthy in February. Everything is in play here to provide better conditions. Tree work, drainage, proper irrigation, verticutting, topdressing, compost, cart traffic are all compounding now to get us through the winter successfully.

The Manakin team has moved deep into the corner pocket, completing all of 7, 6 green and then the tree rough area between 6 and 13. Grant took the initiative to add another sprinkler head into a void we had at the bottom of the hill here on 13 between the three trees. A new 90 foot stretch of pipe was trenched in and the head was wired into the new system.

If the guys arms and backs hold up, we should be finished with the first half of the Manakin re-wire by mid-March!
