Of course the weather for August can be summarized with all different types of weather. Hot, hotter, cool, humid, not bad, breezy, dry, wet, all of it! It's been so humid through the weekend that we are getting the dew to set back up on the turf even after we mow it. The bentgrass is ready for Fall as it has seen enough of these humid, shady mornings. The new greens have survived the summer and will continue to acclimate to these terrible environments we have tossed them in. The new bents love sun so we will continue to work this winter on supplying that need.

Overall both courses have played very nicely through another tough summer. Our staff continues to work hard each and every day to provide an excellent product!

We have finally gotten 5 Sabot stream running this week! After putting in new larger wire ourselves for the pump we were waiting on Dominion to upgrade their transformer in the community behind Sabot 4 and 5. Thanks goes out to Jason Tinsley and his electrician team for upgrading the electric panel for 4 bathroom from 100 amp to 200 amp service.

So the pump that has been sitting in the bottom of the stream by 5 green/silver tee is finally running. It is pushing water up the hill through its own 4" pipe and water is splashing out in to the stream behind 5 green. Our waterfalls are actually working now and it looks pretty good! We are excited to tweak this area as we see how the water flow settles out.

More water management is happening behind the cart barn this week as well. Normally in a big rain the water flows into the barn, including the club repair room which is not a good thing. Our guys started digging a French drain behind the barn and discovered an old drain basin about 10 inches below the mulch that must have been covered for 10+ years. The drain exits under the barn and towards the driving range but it is clogged up over by 10 Manakin tee. We'll try to unclog it there and then any flooding should be alleviated.

Enjoy your long weekend!
