Knocking off a few projects in front of this heavy rain - Sabot aeration Monday!

The heavy rain that is coming down now was predicted early in the week so our focus was to make the most out of the moisture from the sky. We finished up composting the front nine of the Sabot wall to wall and then used some extra to do the rough on the Manakin. The compost continues to help us build the soil and firm things up while supplying a slow feed of nutrients through the season.

The area left of 12 Sabot fairway where we removed some trees for better sunlight was prepped and sodded over with turf type tall fescue on Wednesday.

The other half of the sod truck carried Latitude sod that we laid over the new shape left of 1 Sabot fairway. We came up just short on sod here and the left of 2 Sabot cart path remains to be sodded as well. So long as the sod farm isn't under water come Monday we will get more sod to finish up these areas.

We have grown tired of looking at the drainage lines on 16 and after washing out a few times we decided to go ahead and sod them over. We ran the sod cutter over each line and then started cutting in the new latitude sod to button things up. This fairway has become amazingly more dry over the past two months.

All the native areas have been knocked down with the Ventrac and are ready for their spring pre-emergent weed control.

Pete has been running the sweeper around in some of the pine straw beds trying to pluck a few pine cones out. Keeping these beds clean of pine cones is something even Augusta doesn't try to do (and I'm not saying we do either). We tried something easy to put a dent in the cone population before our fresh application of pine straw goes out in April.

The irrigation crew is rounding the corner and heading towards 3 tee. This almost 2 inches of rain today is not going to help their cause. With the time change they are set on an 11 hour day now and still pushing to have all the heads in the ground through #1 by the end of the month. We are inside of a month now as we are still aiming to play golf on the front nine of Sabot starting Tuesday, April 19th.

If someone could tell Mother Nature we only need rain at about .4" at a time instead of 2" that would be wonderful!

A reminder that we will be deep tining, dryjecting, core aerating and solid tine aerating the back nine greens on the Sabot this coming Monday!
