Cold and wet

With a pretty good dose of rain on Monday and some low temperatures we turned our focus to some projects at the Maintenance Facility. Our upper shop building has a good footprint but hasn't really been utilized that well. We went after Carlos and Dunstano's work station.

It was hard to get them to agree to change something that they have worked with for almost 20 years, but I think they will like this better.

Outside we finished clearing out under this "structure" that used to house the gas and diesel tanks. The fuel tanks were moved to a more central location this past spring and they have worked well. This area just turned into a catch all and was blocking more parking and general flow.

Into the dumpster it went. We will hopefully pour a concrete pad here when the weather warms back up a bit.

The guys started working on our next set of bunkers rakes to eventually make it out onto the Sabot this spring. The rakes are sealed up with Polyurethane before they head out into the wild so they stay looking fresh through the season.

Edging cartpaths will really be a winter season long project. We have 10 miles of path to edge!

The sun dried things out a little bit on Wednesday so we got the painting machine back out. We have had time to procure some black paint to mix in and some different spray nozzles. After two directions with this combo the product is better. It is a little hard to tell in this picture but Jacob is painting on top of the frost. The paint sticks to the frost and then spreads out better on to the leaf. Once the frost burns off and the dew dries up we have to stop for the day however. We will try and get a few more holes painted Friday morning.

Over on the Sabot we found ourselves a root pruner attachment for the tractor. This machine has two PTO driven blades that cut about 12 inches into the soil. We will run lines along the wood lines on both courses over the next few weeks. Cutting off lateral tree roots in the turf helps reduce competition from the trees and results in healthier turfgrass during the growing season.
