Here is your one week of winter (hopefully!)

Two inches of snow materialized quickly Monday night, in front of the first real artic blast of the season. The snow blanket may of helped insulate the bermuda just slightly as some 12 degree air bombed in Wednesday night. Our guys are not used to being cooped up inside but that's what we were relegated to this week. Dunstano and Carlos have also been keeping Carlos' brothers Mario and Fortino plenty busy helping work through preventative maintenance on the equipment fleet.

In the snow on Tuesday we ran out and collected all the flagsticks, benches, tee markers and bunker rakes. The benches have been sanded down and a more protective coat of paint has been applied.

The white tees were taken off last week and brought to the powdercoating company in Ashland. This week we also took them the gold tees since they were in the second worst shape. The other four colors were sanded down this week and painted here at the shop. We should have our four colors back out next week for the warmer weather and the whites and golds should be back in two weeks.

All the bunker rakes were checked over for blemishes and shined up.

Angela and Grant went through all 300 old solenoids from the sprinkler heads we have wired up on the Manakin so far. The new two wire system requires a new solenoid to activate the sprinkler which is a good thing. 100 out of the 300 were bad and thrown in the trash. The weakening of the wire in the ground on Manakin causes more resistance and subsequently fries these solenoids making the head remotely inoperable. This is the core reason why we are running the new wire! We are starting to sell off the old working solenoids and satellite boxes now.

A few guys did break outside later in the week to start some tree work on Sabot and to also install Joe's new water cooler house. This cooler is adjacent to the chipping green area and can service golfers going to 1 Sabot as well as when they come off of #9.

Another blast of cold air is coming this weekend and then some above normal temperatures (for winter) will be here. The rain isn't going anywhere though, it looks like we will be pretty soft until the sun angle really starts to gain altitude in March or so. Stay warm!
