Don't worry it is raining again

Another rain event this past Saturday put us back into our normal winter state of being soaked. The Sun peaked out a bit Sunday so we went after another drain in the middle of 3 Sabot fairway on Monday.

300 feet of 4" drain pipe was laid into the fairway landing area and hooked into a previously laid pipe on the edge of the rough that will take water down to the stream.

The drain was topped off with sand and now has actually been sodded with leftover sod from the project on 16 approach.

16 Sabot approach just barely dried out by Wednesday morning. Andrew Green stopped by and gave his blessing the day before so we were ready for our first load of sod for the season.

All buttoned down and ready for some warm weather. The front approach is almost double in width now. The upper area will be mowed at approach height once the sod roots in and starts growing vertically. Capillary concrete is scheduled for the bunker on Tuesday next week.

Early in the week the team from EZ Locator came out and scanned all of greens on both courses. The contours down to the millimeter were recorded along with the gps locations of the sprinkler heads. This data will fuel a new pin location system that will help us reduce wear on the greens and put out a more accurate course setup.

We will now have contour maps for all the greens and each pin sheet will be available in the EZ Locator app. This software will also integrate into the Visage system for the golf carts. Hopefully inside of a month we will have all of this up and running!

The new greens on the Sabot back nine continue to fill in and look great. We broke out the old Hydroject machine this week to help roll them smooth. Water shoots through the profile to help with rooting and the smooth rollers help work the surface flat. The irrigation team has made it to 11!

The Manakin guys had a fun few days trying to figure out a clogged drain by 12 cartpath. Attempts to unclog the 6" pipe with a hose failed so we had to break out the big guns and cut the clogged piece out.

Here is the cross section of the clogged pipe.....FULL of pine tree roots. Once those roots find water they run hard and fast!

Enjoy the weather this weekend! March doesn't look too exciting after mid next week as far as getting spring going.....
