Getting soaked again, in a good place for projects

The sun came out Monday and some breeze finished drying out both courses nicely which allowed us to button up the bunkers on 2 and 3 this week. Grant and the guys blitzed the right side of 2 green, digging it out and putting a new drain in before the Capillary concrete started to show up Tuesday morning.

The first nine yards of concrete filled up the back bunker on 3 and got the front bunker started.

The second nine yard truck finished up 3 and started the bunker on two. We were about 5 yards short here so we called a third partial truck in and finished off the right bunker on 2. Initially the 2023 budget called for the bunkers on 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10 to all be completed this year. All that remains now are 4 more bunkers on 2. We'll see how the budget shakes out and see if we can squeeze a few more in but this is certainly the furthest along we have been in December compared to past years.

Sand is in on 3 and the rain is packing it down. We'll continue checking depths through the winter as all this new sand settles in.

Need about two more trailer loads to finish up the right bunker on 2. With the rain now and the cold weather next week we are shutting down the bunker project until 2023!

The new greens continue to fight through the cold, we got another roll on them this week.

Some roots here on 18 are already down 3 inches!

We also got a heavy dry topdressing out on the new greens as well as the front nine greens before the rain. We've felt more confident this time around in getting the topdresser and sprayer out on the new sod earlier than last year. This should give us a smoother product come spring.

On 16 Sabot we removed all the old capillary concrete in the bunkers to make way for a modification here to the right side approach. The first (tee side) bunker will be rebuilt with a bigger face which will allow us to fill in the second bunker, as well as the drain in front of the green in favor of a larger landing/approach area.  The irrigation company wanted to use their spoils from the mainline excavation here as opposed to taking them all the way to the dump so we gave them a spot to use. Plenty more on this in the new year!

The latitude tried to green back up last week with some rain and no frost all week. 25 degrees last night and some sub 20 degree temps next week will get rid of any green left.

Enjoy this very diverse winter weather!
